On the night of Saturday, according to Astra, Ukrainian forces struck the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai, after which a fire broke out at the facility. Kuban authorities reported fatalities and one person seriously wounded, and in Azov — four injured.
Astra, after reviewing footage from eyewitnesses, writes that the strike on the Ilsky oil refinery in the Seversky District began around midnight. Local residents reported explosions, air defense activity, and a fire at one of the largest refineries in southern Russia, with a capacity of about 6.6 million tons of oil per year; before that, it had already been attacked on August 8.
Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratyev announced fatalities as a result of a “UAV attack” and one injured person who was hospitalized in serious condition. He also reported fires on the grounds of two enterprises in the Seversky District and the work of all emergency services.
Ukrainian media suggested that the second attacked target could have been the Afipsky oil refinery in the same district, but there is no confirmation of this yet. Ukrainian OSINT channels also claim that the Ilsky oil refinery may have been struck by “jet-powered weapons”.
In Rostov Oblast, according to local residents and Exilenova+, the Azov Optical and Mechanical Plant in Azov was likely attacked. This enterprise is part of the defense holding JSC “Corporation ‘Tactical Missile Weapons’”, produces optics and radar equipment for military hardware and electronic components for missiles; a fire was recorded in the area of the plant. Authorities reported four injured after the strike on Azov, and earlier the plant had come under attack in July.
Rostov Oblast Governor Yuri Slyusar said that a total of five people were injured in the region as a result of the overnight raid, and one more injured person was in Taganrog. He reported UAV impacts and debris hitting residential buildings, industrial facilities, a school, vehicles, and a cultural institution, as well as the destruction of more than 30 drones while repelling the attack.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that overnight and in the morning it “intercepted and destroyed” 645 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones in Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, and Tula regions, in the Moscow region, in Kuban, in Stavropol Krai, in Crimea, and over the waters of the Black and Azov Seas.
