American-Ukrainian investment fund closes first deal in mineral extraction
Private draft
The American-Ukrainian investment fund has closed its first deal in the mineral extraction sector. It involves about $30 million in investments in a joint platform with BGV Group in Ukraine.
Reuters reported this, citing the head of the investment division of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), Conor Coleman. The deal provides for an investment of about $30 million in a joint investment platform with BGV Group, founded by the co-owner of the Ukrainian supermarket chain ATB, Hennadiy Butkevych.
At the first stage, the platform will focus on early-stage mining projects in Ukraine. Coleman said the main focus will be on deposits of rare earth metals, uranium, beryllium, and zirconium.
According to him, all these resources are included in the U.S. list of critical minerals. According to Reuters, the fund’s total project volume currently stands at about $70 million.
In addition to the deal in the minerals sector, the fund has also launched projects aimed at supporting Ukraine’s energy and heating infrastructure. The fund was created under the minerals agreement that the U.S. and Ukraine signed in April 2025.
The fund’s projects cover five strategic areas, including mineral extraction, defense, energy, and infrastructure.
