A Russian Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Has Opened in Bamako

Private draft

On September 21, a center for artificial intelligence and robotics opened in the Malian capital, Bamako — the first full-cycle Russian project in the field of high technology in West Africa. The project was implemented at the request of the Malian company Ouagadou sarl, and the general contractor was Eidos Robotics.

The opening was announced by the Russian Ministry of Energy. The Robotics Corporation, part of the AFK Sistema group, opened a scientific and technical laboratory in Bamako to train engineering personnel and develop advanced solutions.

The technology park includes industrial and collaborative robots, training cells, a server cluster for neural network training, as well as equipment for prototyping and computer vision. The center is equipped with 250 workstations, 100 laptops, and academic licenses for engineering software, and all materials have been adapted for a French-speaking audience.

The main part of the equipment has already been delivered to Bamako. After the opening, the center staff will be trained, and the first cohort of specialists is planned for the second quarter of 2027.

Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev, chairman of the Russian part of the Russian-Malian intergovernmental commission, said that the launch of the center expands opportunities for high-tech cooperation, training qualified personnel, exchanging engineering experience, and joint initiatives. He called the infrastructure created with the participation of Russian companies a magnet for new projects.
