The strike was reported by The Insider citing Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. According to him, several bus and trolleybus routes were delayed or rerouted via the Podilskyi Bridge crossing, and no information about casualties had been received at the time of publication.
Ukrainian media wrote that the North Bridge was attacked by a jet-powered drone, but the military did not officially name the type of drone used. The North Bridge is one of the main transport arteries between the right and left banks in northern Kyiv; it connects Obolon and Troieshchyna and is part of the Small Ring Road.
According to The Insider, Russian forces have been attacking major bridges across the Dnipro in Kyiv for the third day in a row. On the morning of October 1, two drones struck near the support structure of the Southern Bridge, then Klitschko reported another strike in the evening of the same day, an attack overnight on October 2, and a new strike in the evening of October 2.
After this series of strikes, traffic on the Southern Bridge for cars and metro trains was completely halted. The Syretsko-Pecherska, or green, line of the Kyiv Metro runs across it, connecting the right bank with Pozniaky, Osokorky, and Kharkivskyi Massif; it was split into two sections — from “Syrets” to “Vydubychi” and from “Osokorky” to “Chervonyi Khutir”.
At the same time, the authorities restricted traffic on the Darnytsia Bridge, the Metro Bridge, and the Podilskyi Bridge crossing. On the Southern Bridge, according to the source, the support, barrier, roadway, and protective concrete barrier of the metro were damaged.
