Trump appoints Stephen Miller as White House chief of staff

Trump said on social media that he had appointed his longtime adviser Stephen Miller as the new White House chief of staff. Miller will replace Susan Wiles in the post, and Wiles will move to work on Trump’s political team.

Until now, Miller served as White House deputy chief of staff and the president’s homeland security adviser. He was close to Trump during his first term and retained influence in the second. Miller was called the “prime minister” of the United States.

As Meduza previously reported, Miller became the architect of many of Trump’s harshest initiatives — from fighting illegal migration to attacks on universities, the media, and cultural institutions.
