Fire broke out in Ufa’s industrial zone after a drone attack

Private draft

On the morning of October 31, a drone threat was announced in Bashkortostan, and Rosaviatsia closed Ufa airport. A fire broke out in the industrial zone in the north of the city after a drone attack.

On the morning of October 31, Ukrainian drones attacked Bashkortostan. At around 5:40 local time, the head of the republic’s State Committee for Emergency Situations, Kirill Pervov, reported a drone threat, and then Rosaviatsia announced the closure of Ufa airport.

The Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channel “Crimean Wind” claims the strike hit one of three oil refineries in the industrial zone in northern Ufa — “Bashneft-UNPZ”, with a capacity of about 6.6 million tons per year. The plant produces gasoline and diesel fuel, as well as fuel oil and technical sulfur.

In northern Ufa, “Bashneft-UNPZ”, “Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim”, and “Bashneft-Novoil” are located nearby, with a combined capacity of 23.5 million tons per year. The Telegram channel Astra, after examining eyewitness photos, writes that the target was the “Bashneft-Novoil” refinery, with a capacity of 7.3 million tons per year.

According to Astra, the plant produces “Euro-6” gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, and industrial oils. The published footage shows a fire in the industrial zone, and one of the videos shows a drone flying over the city and residents reporting air defense activity.

The Telegram channel Exilenova+, citing local residents, also wrote about a major fire and that two plants may have been hit in the attack. Local authorities have not yet commented on the morning attack.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the raid on Bashkortostan and said that overnight air defense and electronic warfare systems intercepted and destroyed 433 Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs in the skies over the republic and in 18 other regions. The source also says that Ukraine resumed strikes on Russian oil refineries after a two-week pause, and the day before in the Samara region, the Novokuibyshevsk refinery, with a capacity of 8.3 million tons per year, was attacked and set on fire.
